MC D @ MY SCHOOL

McDonald's has been built next to my school last year. It is so near that there is no excuse not to eat there unless you are a hardcore vegetarian, anti American or totally anti fastfood. It is slightly cheaper than outside campus pricing of McDonald's and that means you can eat there until you get really sick! McDonald's is far more popular than KFC in Singapore if you ask me. During weekdays every semester, you won't fail to see it fully packed by students. The seats available are far too limited compare to the amount of students and staffs in uni so that is understandable.

The "McDonald's"ization and Americanization of fast food is a western culture that is very well accepted by Singapore and NUS. Probably the decision to have McD to operate on campus is a sign of the uni to go "global"! Whatever culture path she decides to undertake, that does not concern me much. It is better to have McD there than nothing at all. Haha! Still, I am a Burger King fan and I wish for ages it was them instead.

Other faculties don't have to envy the close proximity of McD to our school for the convinience. This is sadly all we have. We have the worst canteen and did I say smallest? Overcrowded canteen shared with 2 more faculties, it is incredible to queue, not to mention find a seat during lunch time. The whole canteen renovation process is pathethic, it does not improve anything on this problem but just appearance sake, and that is just for like 5% better. We have also the worst food in campus, probably only the Yushof Ishak House can lose to us. We probably are only famous with Western food and funnily, we have McD coming to compete! Sigh!

With the excessive change of the image of McD's with the "I'm Loving It" campaign, you will have plasma tv in every branch as well as the machine to register as a member. What's more, they went cashless already. You can pay with your MRT and bus EZLink card. Just tap it on the device and it will deduct your credits stored inside the card. It's much better than cashcards since you just need to tap it.

I do drop by for breakfast once a while with friends or my brother. You have free flow of tea and coffee but normally we don't have the time in the world to sit in there for hours. Therefore, I have never refill any before.

Be it omelette or pancakes, I love them both. Though the breakfast set is kinda heavy if you ask me. You can also buy apples too to add to the whole set. It is available during mornings.

With butter, honey and jam, you can bring out the best of the pancakes. Yum!

In Singapore, it is very popular to study or do homework in fast food restaurants, not really so in Malaysia. McD's is one of them. I just don't know how they can study in those environments. People just have all kinds of ways I guess.

Apart from students, those living nearby my school will also drop by because of the cheaper rate. You can find families coming as well sometimes. Night time you will have students staying in halls and hostels to drop by as well.

Staff workers, young and old, everybody loves fast food. Singapore generally loves fast food.

This is the front profile view down the landscape where it is situated. Lots of landscape to enjoy! You can see the statue of Ronald standing outside too greeting everybody and luring them in. :)

As you can see, you can also dine the al fresco style at the front. The space itself is cuboid inside with a corridor at the front and two sides for access, one linking from my school and another linking to the canteen with a back service area behind the counter.
