FOOTBALL: ENGLAND 0-0 PORTUGAL (PENALTY: 1-3)

Honestly, eventhough the match was extremely boring compare to the Germany-Argentina match, but England did have some great chances to score which they blew away themselves. They have no one to blame but themselves for the poor finishing. Beckham's injury with Rooney's red card were enough to make the odds even harder for an English victory. Lennon to me is the most exciting player on the field. When he came in, the runs into the penalty box were so dangerous!

Rio Ferdinand also worked very hard and displayed well, the captain was barely seen during the match before he was injured, Steven Gerrard was busy doing more defence and Lampard was still given chances to attack and shoot. Again, he failed to find the net.

When I saw Lampard going for the first penalty kick, I already told my friend it was a big mistake before the kick was even taken. I told him that Lampard had such a bad luck outing for this World Cup he should wait longer for his turn. He should not take the pressure to be the 1st taker, at least 3rd or 4th.

Still, overall, the performance of England was below par of what each of the individuals are capable of. Most of their players underperformed throughout the World Cup probably because of fatigue. The media over-rated them and I don't see any performance worthy of the World Cup crown. Most people say they are luckty to go this far. The lucky journey finally ends.
