FOOTBALL: FIFPRO AWARD

Cristino Ronaldo is voted FIFPro World Footballer of the Year. FIFPro is the world players' union which has 57,500 members around the globe. The best eleven list naturally has him in it. What do you think of the list? Who should also be in the list and who do not deserve a place? I thought Puyol doesn't make the mark while Fabregas should be considered. Kaka was pretty injured and quiet last season so that's a question mark for me too.

FIFPro World XI:
Goalkeeper – Iker Casillas (Spain/ Real Madrid)

Defenders – Sergio Ramos (Spain/ Real Madrid), John Terry (England/ Chelsea), Carles Puyol (Spain/ Barcelona) and Rio Ferdinand (England/ Manchester United)

Midfielders - Steven Gerrard (England/ Liverpool), Xavi (Spain/ Barcelona) and Ricardo Kaká (Brazil/AC Milan)

Forwards – Lionel Messi (Argentina/ Barcelona), Fernando Torres (Spain/ Liverpool), and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal/ Manchester United)

Of course, congratulations to Liverpool for ending Chelsea's 86 undefeated league games at Stamford Bridge. I am happy for Xabi Alonso to score the winning goal too. He has been so quiet last season and almost got transfered out. All praise to Rafa Benítez too who was also once pressured a lot to exit. Now, can Liverpool have some domestic dominance?

As for Juande Ramos, his time was up at Spurs so suddenly. I expected it for his winless season but it was just too sudden. Harry Redknapp took over right away and the squad responded by winning 2-0 over Bolton Wanderers. Perhaps it will be a much better road ahead for them from now on. What about Newcastle United? They continue to wander in the wilderness.
