IMMIGRATION UPDATES

Since I returned from the CNY2010 holidays, many things have changed at the Malaysian immigration.

Most of the immigration officers no longer scan your passport like the good old days where flashing the cover will do. The entire automatic gate system went down for about two weeks. The truckloads or busloads of visitors entering Singapore in huge numbers. Most of these tourists are from China and Hong Kong. I presume their luggages are filled with hard cold cash for the casino betting spree. The Malaysian government responded by putting up notices everywhere for tourists to declare the amount of cash they bring in if it exceeds USD10K I think. Suddenly it becomes so efficient. I can't imagine how the traffic will be like once the other casino (Marina Bay Sands) opens.
