Fight over durians ends in death

KUANTAN, June 16 - A quarrel over fallen durians in an orchard, resulted in one Felda settler from Felda Padang Piul, Jerantut being fatally slashed.

Jerantut police chief Acting Supt Jamaluddin Abd Rahman said during the 1pm incident, the victim, Abdul Samad, 50, was believed to have been engaged in a quarrel with his neighbour over durians that had fallen behind their houses.

"Both had claimed the fallen durians were theirs since there was no partition to separate their orchards, both planted with durian trees. In the ensuing scuffle, the victim was slashed and died at the scene," said Jamaluddin when contacted here today.

The victim's body was later sent to the Jerantut Hospital for a post-mortem while the 60 year-old neighbour who was involved in the quarrel, was detained by police, he said. - Bernama
