SINGAPORE MARRIOTT HOTEL

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I went to Singapore Marriott Hotel which is with C.K.Tang at Orchard Road for a buffet dinner with a friend. The free dinner was from a radio contest that I won. This time it is a S$73+++ each dinner for two which includes free flow of wine and beer! This is the most greatest food contest I won after the Spanish restaurant. The buffet dinner was held at the Marriott Cafe.

I never want to go for buffets nowadays because I cannot eat as much as I used to anymore in those secondary school days. Then, you will regret not able to enjoy everything to your fullest! Haha! Greedy!

The interior is old and is understandable since the building itself is one of the oldest in Orchard Road. One of the veterans.

Still, it feels very grand and high class indeed. You can feel the prestige by the quality and services provided. It was a great experience.

The theme for the buffet is exotic Thailand. We are being served with authentic Thai cuisine prepared live by guest chefs from Bangkok and at the same time entertained by traditional Thai music and dances. We get to try out some irresistible dishes like the Treasure Leaf, Haw Mok Thalay (steamed seafood cakes) and so on!

The decorations at the table top made it very interesting indeed. The stage came alive and we got to see some performances.

I started off with some meat and fish eaten with special Thai made sauce ingredients. Everything tastes interesting to me but the fish because I think I had too much of it back home. Sick of it. The pork is my favourite, nicely done and you can feel the nice juicy meat. Yum!

Had some seafood. They are fresh and the sauce is good! The dish reminds me of Mr.Bean when he dined at the hotel.

Apart from Thai musical instrument performance, there ares also traditional Thai dances being presented at the stage.

Next, I tried their curry combos with the rice. Chicken, beef, fish, cuttlefish and duck. All are great and have different curry smell to them but I really love the duck. It was well cooked. The eggplants in the cuttlefish curry was damn good too!

We started to try out some salads. There are a variety of different salads available from fruit to meat and vegetable mixtures.

We ordered red wine and white wine each. Each glass costs S$16. The white wine tasted better and my friend agreed as well. It was the Chile Vina Undurraga Sauvignon Blanc 2003 which has a slight greenish yellow colour. The red wine was Chile Vina Undurraga Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 which has an intense ruby red colour. Both are dry and lasting. The white wine tasted better with salads, fish, seafood and cold meats while the red wine perfectly complements red meat, chicken, pasta and fish. I am no wine expert but I have a friend who collects wine and I learnt alot from him regarding them.

We also had some very Thai food like this dish below which consists of some seafood. Spicy and great combo of spices to make it really nice!

Then of course, what is Thailand without tom yam soup? We ordered seafood tom yam soup each!

The dances continued throughout the whole night!
