MOURINHO NEEDS TO WIN, UNLIKE WENGER AND RAFA

As always, another controversial statement by Mourinho. Well, to an extent, he is right but we have to compare apple to apple. If you are paid handsomely and given a huge amount of talented players as well as major transfer fees, you are expected to perform straight away. You can look at the other angle and say well it's unfair since your job will be more secured if you are at a situation like Arsenal. You can always use the excuse of time needed to build a young team and not enough budget to buy anything big. Well, let's just see how far Inter Milan can go this season.

While Inter prepare for a tricky away match against Genoa on Saturday evening, coach Jose Mourinho gave an interview to Inter Channel in which he talked about being called a 'bauscia', Milanese dialect for arrogant, loud-mouthed person, midfielder Esteban Cambiasso, and the transfer market.

"Am I a 'bauscia'? Yes, I know what it means," Mourinho said. "Certainly all the fans know I give everything for the club and also to them. I couldn't work any other way, that's how I am."

On Cambiasso, he said, "I would need two Cambiassos, one playing ten meters further forward and the other ten meters behind."

Asked about who Inter might buy in the near future, the coach preferred not to name any players, "I don't want the newspapers to say Inter will buy this or that player."

On his future as coach of Inter, he said, "[Arsene] Wenger has been Arsenal's coach for 15 years but he hasn't won even a Carling Cup for six years. [Rafa] Benitez hasn't won a league title in six years but he continues to be Liverpool's coach.

"This is not the Italian mentality. To stay here I must continue winning and do well."

EPL SEASON FINALE!

Congratulations to Liverpool captain, Stevie G. for being voted England's Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers' Association. He was ahead of Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney. He has scored the highest amount of goals so far in a single season comparing to all the previous seasons since his football career. He will have an extremely difficult task at hand to stop Manchester United from winning the EPL crown yet again. There are only two matches left for both of them and The Red Devils are leading with 6 points.

As for Chelsea, they are 3 points behind Liverpool. The best they can do is to try finishing second. If not, they can still maintain their current position at 3rd even if they lose the two remaining matches.

What about Arsenal? Nothing they do in the next two matches will make a difference so they will have to go for the Champions League qualifying rounds to quality for next season. They really need to consider spending a bit to give the talents in the team some assurance of staying. I believe all players dream of winning titles.

At the bottom of the table, Newcastle United is fighting to survive the relegation battle. They are tied on points with Hull City with Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion just 3 points behind. Even with Shearer at the helm, they are still struggling to stay in the league for next season. They have two very tough matches ahead.

LIVERPOOL COMING TO ASEAN!

I guess this more or less confirms the coming of Liverpool to ASEAN during this summer break! Hopefully Bangkok will be more politically stable by then. I hope they bring a full squad. I also hope Liverpool can challenge Manchester United till the end to prevent them winning the 18th league crown.

Football: Liverpool head for Thailand and Singapore

LIVERPOOL, England - Liverpool will play pre-season friendlies in Thailand and Singapore in July, the club announced on Wednesday.

Rafael Benitez's side will face Thailand in Bangkok on July 22 before flying to Singapore to take on the national team on July 26.

It will be the first time the Reds have visited Thailand since 2003, while they have not played in Singapore for eight years.

"We have a fantastic group of fans in both Thailand and Singapore and it will be great to take the lads out there again," Reds boss Rafael Benitez said.

Ian Ayre, Liverpool's commercial director, added: "South East Asia is clearly a key region for Liverpool.

"As we continue to develop our international plans, being able to allow fans all over the world to see the team live is paramount."

Dato Worawi Makudi, president of the Thai Football Association, said they were eagerly anticipating the match.

"Liverpool's return to the kingdom is long overdue," he said.

"The experience that our players will receive from this game will help in the development of Thai football."

Winston Lee, general secretary of the Football Association of Singapore, was also pleased to welcome back the Reds.

He said: "Inviting teams such as Liverpool, as well as Brazil and Australia last year, is part of our continued efforts to bring top-class football action to our shores.

"It will not only be a great experience for our fans but our players will get exposure to world-class teams and players."

Football: Liverpool to play in Singapore this year

SINGAPORE: Liverpool fans in the region should get their jerseys and scarves ready.

The Reds are planning to play a friendly match in Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong. The Football Association of Singapore said it is in talks with the English side, but no date has been fixed yet.

Reports suggest that Liverpool has a good fan base here in Asia, but when it comes to touring Asia, they have not been as active as their rivals, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Manchester United will return to Asia for the fifth time in a decade this July, while Chelsea will take part in the Barclays Asia Trophy in the same month.

Liverpool said it can "do much better" when it comes to building a business overseas.
