'THE SPECIAL ONE' TO 'THE WHITE HOUSE'?

Well, he wants to win titles with clubs in the four different leagues of the Portuguese Liga, English Premier League, Italian Serie A and now the Spanish La Liga. Ironically, La Liga was one of Mourinho's earlier managerial career destinations as an assistant but he has yet to win anything there by himself. It will also be interesting to see him becoming the coach of Real Madrid instead of Barcelona FC, where he worked under van Gaal and Bobby Robson.

The dude is just 47 years old and I have to admit that his experience with different leagues really made him probably the most versatile coach up there with Fabio Capello, who is 63. Capello only managed in two leagues but he is now a country coach. He had probably won more titles with more different teams but in just the Italian and Spanish leagues. Therefore, as much as I can't stand Mourinho's sarcastic remarks and opinions, I have to admit he is up there among the legendary managers of this era. I guess if Mourinho, like Capello, cannot manage Real Madrid, I'm afraid no other coach of this era can. The team needs someone with great authority like them to push the team's discipline and teamwork to get effective results. You can't win by default with just money alone as been proven by Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City. You need a conductor who can bring the whole orchestra together to generate a magnificent performance.

Will The Special One succeed? Well, only time will tell. If he does, I hope the stupid management of Real Madrid will not just sack him like how they did with Capello. Capello was effective but the management was impatient with the arrival of the 10th Champions League crown.

CONGRATULATIONS INTER MILAN!

Winning the Champions League 2-0 against Bayern Munich have given them the honour to be the best in Europe. I have expected Inter Milan to win and rightfully so. Milito's double sealed the win but it was also the creativity and decisive strategies of Sneijder and Eto'o which made it possible. Sneijder and Eto'o are Real Madrid's and Barcelona's invaluable assets which are discarded with much regret. If both of them had stayed back in their respective clubs, Inter Milan may not be the club to be crowned champions of Europe today.

Champions League Stat Attack: The Numbers On Inter's Win Over Bayern Munich
Let's crunch the figures...

By Ewan Macdonald

Bayern Munich fell at the final hurdle tonight as Inter won the Champions League final at the Santiago Bernabeu.

It was in fact a routine win to mark an extraordinary occasion, Diego Milito scoring twice for the Nerazzurri during a game in which they were rarely threatened.

Let's look at the numbers and see what they can tell us about Saturday night's events...

21 Number of shots Bayern attempted on the Inter goal...

11 ... and the number that Inter attempted in response.

55% Arjen Robben's pass completion rate

4187 The number of metres covered by Bastian Schweinsteiger

2/2 Goals/shots ratio for matchwinner Diego Milito of Inter

3 Number of yellow cards given out by referee Howard Webb in a game with 19 fouls

8 Number of Bayern shots blocked by an Inter player

15 Number of balls won by Martin Demichelis

5 The number of trophies Jose Mourinho has lifted in his two seasons at Internazionale

TREBLE POSSIBILITY AND ONE POINT RACES

This could be the year of Mourinho's because he has the best chance to capture the treble than any manager in Europe. Inter Milan are leading the Serie A table with two more matches to play. They hold 2 points advantage over AS Roma. Inter will face Chievo Verona at home and Siena away while AS Roma will face Cagliari home and Cheivo Verona away. Inter have better goal difference record than AS Roma so drawing on points will give Inter advantage too.

Chelsea are leading Manchester United with one point going into the final match this weekend. Chelsea will be hosting Wigan Atletic while Manchester United will face Stoke City at home. If they are to end with the same points, Chelsea will still have a better advantage with superior 9 goals difference. Meanwhile in the La Liga, Barcelona are also having a one point lead over Real Madrid with two more matches to play. Barcelona have Sevilla (away) and Valladolid (home) to play while Real Madrid have Atletic Bilbao (home) and Málaga (away) to face. If they draw on points, Barcelona will win the league with a better head to head result this season.

THE 15 MINUTES OF MADNESS

It was already the 80th minute when woke up to watch the match at the coffeeshop at the ground of my apartment. I overslept because I was rushing work the previous night. The score was 0-0. OK, I thought I did not miss anything. I saw Barcelona pushing Inter Milan real hard. Well, logical since it was their own den and they were trailing. They needed 2 goals to go through to the final. I finally did a quick count since Inter Milan were too deep in defence. Ah, a man down.....no wonder (Motta).

Within 4 minutes, Xavi was again the mastermind who sent in a good assist for Pique to score. The boss of the coffeeshop who was also watching the match told me that I just brought a goal into the match with my presence. I just smiled back because I was half conscious, waking up early for the match. Barcelona were celebrating as they just needed 1 more goal to get through. I watched the replay and it did seem like an offside goal. Well, there was only one angle of the video replay so I should not finalize my view. Perhaps another angle of video replay may help clarify it.

Then another goal was scored by Bojan deep into the injury time but it was ruled out because it hit one of their players. Messi was dangerous as ever with Xavi masterminding strategies to score the goal they needed. Inter Milan's defence finally made it for them to hold on to their lead to win the match. Mourinho was seen running to the pitch and punching his hand up in jubilation. I guess he must be happy to be able to slay the giant in their own turf.

It will be weird seeing Samuel, Cambiasso, Sneijder and Eto'o at the Santiago Bernabeu for the final. They were all ex-Madrid players. It is nice to see Bayern Munich back strong in Europe. Unfortunately, Ribery will most likely not play in the final!

Can we blame mother nature for Barcelona's exit? The first leg was played with them taking land transport all the way to Milan because of the volcanic ash incident.

MOURINHO NEEDS TO WIN, UNLIKE WENGER AND RAFA

As always, another controversial statement by Mourinho. Well, to an extent, he is right but we have to compare apple to apple. If you are paid handsomely and given a huge amount of talented players as well as major transfer fees, you are expected to perform straight away. You can look at the other angle and say well it's unfair since your job will be more secured if you are at a situation like Arsenal. You can always use the excuse of time needed to build a young team and not enough budget to buy anything big. Well, let's just see how far Inter Milan can go this season.

Inter Coach Mourinho: I Need To Win Trophies To Keep My Job Unlike Wenger & Rafa Benitez
Inter coach Jose Mourinho talked about the pressure of coaching in Italy and the importance of midfielder Esteban Cambiasso to the team.
Oct 15, 2009 9:08:40 PM

While Inter prepare for a tricky away match against Genoa on Saturday evening, coach Jose Mourinho gave an interview to Inter Channel in which he talked about being called a 'bauscia', Milanese dialect for arrogant, loud-mouthed person, midfielder Esteban Cambiasso, and the transfer market.

"Am I a 'bauscia'? Yes, I know what it means," Mourinho said. "Certainly all the fans know I give everything for the club and also to them. I couldn't work any other way, that's how I am."

On Cambiasso, he said, "I would need two Cambiassos, one playing ten meters further forward and the other ten meters behind."

Asked about who Inter might buy in the near future, the coach preferred not to name any players, "I don't want the newspapers to say Inter will buy this or that player."

On his future as coach of Inter, he said, "[Arsene] Wenger has been Arsenal's coach for 15 years but he hasn't won even a Carling Cup for six years. [Rafa] Benitez hasn't won a league title in six years but he continues to be Liverpool's coach.

"This is not the Italian mentality. To stay here I must continue winning and do well."

CONGRATULATIONS FC BARCELONA, MANCHESTER UNITED & INTER MILAN!

All of them won the league title just few hours ago. FC Barcelona won without even playing as Real Madrid were defeated 3-2 away to Villarreal. Manchester United drew with Arsenal 0-0 and that was enough to win the title officially. Inter Milan won without playing too as AC Milan lost 2-1 to Udinese. Luis Figo, 36, officially announce his retirement from football after they were crowned champions.

"This is the first time I am champion without playing," he told A BOLA. "This is the best way to end."

"I will not play again at the highest level," he said. "And I will most likely not accept any offer. Only if something special emerges and it is from outside of Europe. But it is not likely."

FC Barcelona won the league with three more matches left this season and scoring an incredible and impressive 103 goals from 35 matches! Inter too won the league with three matches left but only scoring 62 goals from 35 matches. Manchester United have one more match left and they only scored 67 goals in total. FC Barcelona are probably the team in the best form this season throughout the world and are in the best position to win the Champions League end of this month to earn a treble. Both of them will meet on the 27th May 2009 for the final showdown!

I watched the controversial Newcastle VS. Fulham match last night and I really pity them for not winning the match. There was a disallowed goal from Mark Viduka and a red card for Sebastien Bassong. Now, Newcastle United will have a difficult chance to save their season and Alan Shearer is the most pressured manager in the whole Europe right now.
